Surf's Up
This month of November we are joining a small business survival club from out
of state. As most of you know, many large companies are outsourcing,
downsizing, or setting-up shop out of the country. We cannot emphasize enough
the importance of supporting your local, State and US small business. Our
country is leaning more towards the (corporatocracy) business model a term
provided by the economist book author, John Perkins. The larger trans-national
corporations will greatly influence how our citizens live, work, laws, and how
we may conduct future business. Before we proceed with our own business goals
at Air Tan Beach Store, Inc. we needed to write briefly on this relevant topic.
In a mostly Oil-use based economy, not by choice, it will be extremely
difficult and a great challenge for many small business owners to survive the
transitions facing all of us ahead. Fortunately, many already in small
business have a loyal customer base and a following of enthusiast's that may
help greatly during this time of adjustments. We may need to review our
business models, outlooks, and come up with new strategies to stay ahead.
Careful planning, sharing what may work with other small business owners,
attending seminars, and supporting each other during this time is crucial.
Recently after the Florida storm and power outage many business owners started
cooperating, and helping each other both with moral support and sharing with
small items that were needed.
Just yesterday I was reviewing the book titled, "Leadership Secrets of Attila
The Hun", written by Wess Roberts, phd. I had the a sudden urge to go over the
leadership principles discussed in the book to get more understanding on the
concept of effective leadership. I questioned the course or direction
in which our country may be heading. The writer goes over the challenges
facing leaders and the wisdom and skill to lead effectively. Perhaps we could
take some time out to pray for our leaders to please try and do a better job
in taking care of our country and lead us more effectively. Some of the
leadership principles presented that caught my attention were:
1.Only engage in wars you can win.
2.Pick your enemies wisely.
3.Never feel above gaining new insights.
4.Understand the importance of creating and sharing a vision with the
people or group that you lead.
5.Reward your Huns(your group or people).
6.Survive defeat: There is another day.
7.Carry out the responsibilities of your office without becoming
distorted in your own views.
8.Leaders will often be betrayed by those they trust most.
9.Being a leader of the Huns is a lonely job.
10.Huns (the people) do not follow a leader that does not improve
the quality of their lives.
11. A foe does not need to be an enemy. Keeping diplomatic ties is "euphemeral". Ramdon House dictionary related word "euphemize or good omen".
Finally-I would like to say that in a true democracy as in a healthy Republic, the common people are
considered as the primary source of political power and not selected groups.
Events end-up going wrong when the common people's views are not heard or
taken into account (Look at what took place in the beautiful country of
France) with high unemployment and immigration issues without proper planning.
The Columbia University dictionary defines the word democracy as: Term
originating in ancient Greece to designate a government where the people share
in directing the activities of the state, as distinct from governments
controlled by a single class, select group or autocrat. Please write
your local state representative(senators) expressing your concerns over our
economy, energy costs, new energy, job creation, protection for small
business, and the direction and future of our country. Drop them a note, thank
you letters and praise your leaders for jobs or projects well done. Lets take
the opportunity right now to thank senator Ken Salazar of Colorado for
introducing legislation to honor military survivors by eliminating the term
"gratuity" from the assistance made available after a service member dies in
the line of duty. The Dept. of Veterans' Affairs uses the term "Death
Gratuity" to describe the assistance that tax payers make available to
military survivors. Senator Salazar's legislation(S.523) would replace the
term death gratuity with "Fallen Hero Compensation". He also introduced
legislation S.11, the standing with our troops act of 2005 and S.44 the
Military Death Benefict Improvement Act of 2005. Thank you so very much
Senator Ken Salazar for your great work and sincere efforts in improving the
lives of the american people in these issues. I heard about it initially on
the Drudge report and not favoring a single political party. I must also say
that I wrote ken Salazar about immigration and received a return e-mail
message that looked personally written and straight forward without any
jumbled vocabulary and he sounded sincere on his reply and straight forward.
Thanks again for taking your time in responding to inquiries. On google you
could get the mailing address for all members of congress. If you wish to also
thank senator Salazar please send a short note or e-mail to his office.
Leaders need to know that we care for all the work that they do,to represent
us the people.
To further summarize the importance of protecting our country, our
economy, and our way of life please view link no. 5 on our link page, and read
the speech given by Dr. David Abbott. You may wish to book mark our page and
review the information a second time. Dr. Abbott was born in England and is a
medical doctor that lived in America for 25 years where he raised a beautiful
family and practiced medicine in the state of Oregon. He achieved great
success, and in the year 2000 returned to the UK to join the UKIP's campaign
to fight for the freedom, independence and prosperity for all Brits. His
message in the speech is "What Americans Face if globalization Attempts
continue". When even ultra conservatives such as Dr. Michael Savage discuss
publicly on the radio the effects that globalization could have on our country
we best pay a lot of attention.
I wish to thank Patrick M. Wood editor of The August Review, for
allowing us to link the written speech given by Dr. Abbott. I also wish to
thank all visitors to Air Tan Beach Store.com and to our Customers for
allowing me the extra time aside to devote in providing some of this useful
information so that we could all be more aware and protect our way of life. As
part of our mission statement, we are a beach store with an emphasis on
fitness. A Healthy Fit Nation is also a prosperous, independent, freedom
loving nation which is free and not subjugated. Happy Holidays!
